Residents In Shock As Car Buried With Human Corpses Was Found In Nasarawa.

Residents of Nasarawa State were still in shock yesterday over the discovery of the bodies of two bankers and their driver.
They were allegedly ambushed by suspected Ombatse boys, who took them to the bush, killed them, set them ablaze with their car and buried them with the car by the riverside.
The incident happened at Tudun Adabu in Obi Local Government.

The Police Command has arrested 14 suspects in connection with the murder.
The deceased bankers are Alhaji Hassan Gidado, who was the managing director of the Police Microfinance Bank, and Mr. Tunde Banwo.
The police, at a news conference on Monday, said after the the bodies were exhumed, they were deposited
at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital in Lafia.
It was gathered that the two top bankers, who lived in Abuja, were in Lafia for the wedding of a child of the police commissioner-in-charge of Cooperative.
Police Commissioner Umar Shehu said the suspected killers would soon be taken to court. He assured residents that measures had been taken to curb the activities of the outlawed Ombatse group.

ASUU Strike: Group issues 14days ultimatum.

The Alpha Liberation Organisation has issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Federal Government and the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to negotiate and call off the lingering strike.
Mr Abuoma Chuka, the national president of the group, told newsmen in Onitsha, Anambra, on Tuesday that the ultimatum was issued with immediate effect.
He said that his organisation was already negotiating with coalitions of civil society groups nationwide and students’ bodies to stage a nationwide protest after the expiration of the ultimatum.
Chuka noted that the strike, which made thousands of students to roam the streets, would enter its 100th day at the expiration of the 14-day ultimatum.
"If the Federal Government fails to do everything to call off the strike, we will stage a protest.
"We are into negotiations with all civil society groups. We will also mobilise the youth. We will jump into the streets.
"In fact, exactly what happened during the fuel subsidy days will happen again, and no force can take us back.
"So, we are advising the Federal Government to do everything within these 14 days and call off the strike. Let our youths go back to school," he said.
Chuka, who lauded the listening posture of the Federal Government, however, blamed it for entering into an agreement which it could not honour.
He recalled that the 2009 agreement stated that all federal universities would require N1.5 trillion between 2009 and 2011 to address the decay in university education.
He also noted that in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed between ASUU and the government in 2012, the Federal Government decided to extend the arrangement to include both federal and state universities.
Chuka noted that since the onset of the strike, there had been more than 11 negotiations between the Federal Government and the ASUU.
"It is a very good development and the government has been able to offer N130 billion to appease ASUU. So we appreciate that.
"But then the Federal Government entered into a MoU with ASUU, which it has not kept until now. The government is not faithful to the agreement," he said.
Chuka, however, called on the government to make concerted efforts to resolve the crisis.
He said that such efforts would stem academic brain drain and students’ migration to foreign universities.

RVP to Miss Liverpool Clash.

David Moyes has confirmed that Robin van Persie has failed to recover in time for Manchester United's Capital One Cup clash with Liverpool on Wednesday.
The Dutchman missed Sunday's 4-1 mauling at the hands of city rivals Manchester City after picking up a groin injury in training prior to the encounter at the Etihad.
Moyes seemed optimistic that the former Arsenal skipper would be ready for the midweek clash with United's traditional rivals, but now admits that the 30-year-old is set to miss out once again, with a return against West Brom at the weekend likely.
"I don't think he will play on Wednesday. He will have an outside chance for Saturday (home to West Brom)," he said at a press conference.
The Red Devils will rue the absence of the reigning back-to-back Premier League Golden Boot winner, with his guile and creativity along with his killer eye for goal providing a fantastic outlet up front.

Jonathan promises credible, free and fair elections in 2015.

President Goodluck Jonathan has reiterated the commitment of his administration to hold credible, free and fair elections in the country by 2015.
Jonathan gave the assurace during his bilateral meeting with President Barack Obama in the Lyndon B. Johnson suite in the Waldorf-Astoria in New York on Monday.
"I have conducted a credible elections in 2011 and I am committed to do the same in 2015."
Jonathan reminded the U.S President that as he continued to work towards a safe world, Nigeria, he said, should not be left out.
"For you to fix the world, you must fix Africa. For you to fix Africa, you must fix Nigeria."
He also called for a stronger global consensus and determination to end the scourge of terrorism as quickly as possible.
President Jonathan said that unless the international community unite and deploy its enormous resources to eradicate terrorism, it would continue to be embarrassed by terrorist outrages such that occurred in Nairobi.
He expressed his appreciation of the support and assistance Nigeria had received from the U.S. in the fight against domestic terrorism.
Jonathan said that Nigeria would welcome more bilateral collaboration to fight terrorism in the country.

On his part. President Obama recalled his recent trip to Africa and since then he saw common interests in helping Nigeria improve its rural electrification, empowering young people through the Young African Leaders programme.
According to him, improving internal security is in a way consistent with human rights and making sure Nigerian elections in 2015 continue to improve the country's democratic process.
Obama said the attack at a Nairobi mall over the weekend "underscores" the level to which all countries "are" connected and the need to work together.
"We stand with them against this terrible outrage that’s occurred, we will provide them with whatever law enforcement help that is necessary.
"The United States will continue to work with the entire continent of Africa and around the world to make sure that we are dismantling these networks of destruction."

President Jonathan was accompanied to the meeting by the Minister of State (Foreign Affairs), Prof. Viola Onwuliri, Nigeria's Ambassador to the U. S, Prof. Ade Adefuye, the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Allison-Madueke, and the Governor of Gombe State, Alhaji Ibrahim Dankwambo.
The U.S. Secretary of State, Mr John Kerry, and the National Security Adviser, Ms Susan Rice, were also in attendance.

BlackBerry messenger for Android and iPhone Postponed.

BBM has been postponed till further notice as there has been an unreleased version that was leaked before the official blackberry messenger launch.
Here’s the official press release from blackberry via their blog.
Hi Android and iPhone users,
This is Andrew Bocking, head of BBM at BlackBerry. As a follow up to our first blog post on Saturday, I want to take a moment to provide you with an update on the rollout of BBM on Android and iPhone.
Last week, an unreleased, older version of the BBM for Android app was posted on numerous file sharing sites. We were aware of an issue with this unreleased version of the BBM for Android app. This older version resulted in volumes of data traffic orders of magnitude higher than normal for each active user and impacted the system in abnormal ways. The version we were planning to release on Saturday addressed these issues, however we could not block users of the unreleased version if we went ahead with the launch.
We attempted to address the problems caused by the unreleased version throughout the day on Saturday, but as active users of the unreleased app neared a million – and accelerated – it became clear that the only way to address the issue was to pause the rollout for both Android and iPhone.
The team is now focused on adjusting the system to completely block this unreleased version of the Android app when we go live with the official BBM for Android app. We are also making sure that the system is reinforced to handle this kind of scenario in the future. While this may sound like a simple task – it’s not. This will take some time and I do not anticipate launching this week.
Thank you for your patience while we take the time needed to deliver the experience you expect from BBM. We will continue to provide you with updates here on InsideBlackBerry.com and through @BBM on Twitter. We will notify everyone who has pre-registered on BBM.com when BBM is available on Android and iPhone.

Simple Things a Woman Can Do to Keep Her Relationship Alive.

Often times the simplest things will make the biggest difference in someone’s relationship. Sometimes people make things way too complicated, specially when it come to improving or fixing problems in a relationship. Today I want to provide simple relationship advice and share with everyone 2 simple and easy ways to improve or keep a relationship alive.

1. The first one is to simply find a weekly activity that you BOTH enjoy and do it no matter what. What I mean is to just find something you and your partner like and can do together. It has to be something with a schedule and a specific time. This will require both of you top stay on each other and not let the other one drop out. In other words, the days you’re not in the mood to do this activity your partner will help you and motivate you to not give up or be lazy and vice versa. Keep in mind that this activity has to be something you both enjoy that way both of you have an interest in it.

Examples of such activities include things like: joining a sports team, joining a group exercise class or joining a dancing team. The main purpose of such activities is to collaborate with each other as a team. The idea is to be there for each other and start appreciating your partner for always being there for you. It will create a bigger bond and at the same time will teach you to support each other no matter what.

2. The second tip I will give you is something that takes us back to the basic of a relationship or marriage. It’s actually a very simple concept and it has to do with the kitchen. Just cook for your man on a regular basis and you will soon start to see a huge improvement in your relationship. There’s something about a woman feeding a man that just has a huge impact about the way a man will see and treat that person. It’s almost like magic. But it’s true, man just love to know they have someone by their side that’s willing to look after them and be there for them in something as simple as just eating. Suddenly you will see your man behaving in a more traditional way and will step up to doing the things you never imagine he would do. If you don’t believe me, just try it for at least a week or two and you will see the results. And if you don’t know how to cook just remember that there’s a ton of books out there that can teach you how to cook.
So, next time you’re going through some tough times with your man just give these two useful tips a try and notice the big improvement. I would start with tip #2 first to get on his good side and then follow to tip #1. He will be a lot more willing to try out a new activity even if he’s not really in the mood.

Is This The 29-Year-Old Muslim Woman Behind The Attack On Kenya Shopping Mall?

Speculation is growing that terrorism suspect Samantha Lewthwaite from Northern Ireland, dubbed the White Widow, had been killed as Kenyan military forces attempted to end the three-day siege at a Nairobi shopping mall.
Americans and a British woman were among the terrorists who attacked the mall, killing more than 60 people, Kenya's foreign minister said today.

Amina Mohamed said the attackers included "two or three Americans" and "one Brit". She told the PBS NewsHour programme that the Americans were 18 to 19 years old, of Somali or Arab origin and lived "in Minnesota and one other place" in the US.
The woman is believed to be Lewthwaite, from Banbridge, who is already wanted in Kenya on terror charges.
A Muslim convert, she had been dubbed the "white widow" because of her marriage to Jermaine Lindsay, who blew up an underground train at King's Cross in London in 2005, killing 26 people.

She has been on the run in east Africa for two years after allegedly plotting to attack Western targets in Kenya.
Her father was a British soldier posted in the North during the Troubles, who married a local woman.
Lewthwaite converted to Islam in her teenage years and later married Lindsay, one of the 7/7 London bombers.
She then married another jihadist while on the run in Africa where she became a leader of the al-Shabaab terror grouping.
Lewthwaite later arranged the assassination of a terror rival in an attack that also claimed the life of her second husband, Habib Ghani. She did not even acknowledge the fact he had been murdered.
Family friends in Banbridge yesterday said the publicity surrounding Lewthwaite in recent years had deeply affected her grandmother who lives near the town centre.

Elizabeth Allen is said to be devastated by the revelations regarding her grand-daughter. It is understood the stress on Ms Allen, who is in her late 80s, is such she was hospitalised recently.
The frail pensioner previously told how she was issued with a panic alarm with which she was to contact police if Lewthwaite ever made contact with her.
Kenyan security forces battled al Qaida-linked terrorists in the upmarket mall for a third day in what they said was a final push to rescue the last few hostages in a siege that has left at least 62 people dead.

Kenya Siege Updated: Forces push as siege enters 48th hour

Forces push as siege enters 48th hour

Gunfire has been heard and a plume of smoke has been seen rising from Westgate mall as Kenyan forces push hard to bring the siege to an end and free the remaining hostages.
Update 13:50 PM (EAT)
Contrary to most reports which state there are 68 confirmed dead, The Star quotes Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Ole Lenku has stated that the death toll is 59.

He emphasised, “The death toll remains 59 and 175 injured. Some NGOs have given a higher death toll, which we believe to be incorrect owing to the possibility of double-counting. Some of the dead have already been released to their families for burial. We will in due course provide the number of foreigners killed in the attack.”
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Shoppers and workers at the popular shopping centre were caught off guard when the armed men opened fire at the prominent Westgate Mall, on Saturday afternoon.

The death toll has since been tallied at 68, with more than 175 left injured. Casualties were rushed to various nearby hospitals for treatment, but an accurate number of fatalities is still unknown due to on-going attacks.

An explosion and more shots has since been heard in the shopping centre, where the 10-15 militant attackers are believed to be holding hostages.
Kenya Defence Forces and other security services have attempted to take control of the scene in a bid to save the victims and hostages.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has addressed the nation, along with political rival, Former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga and presented a united front in a bid to fight the cowardly attacks head-on.

The President, who has revealed that he also lost friends and loved ones in the horrific attacks, has pledged his support for those affected and emphasised strength in unity among the Kenyan people

It's all about the right person at the right time.

It's NOT about being engaged, married or in a relationship. It's about being secured, happy, safe, relieved and feeling good; it's about a peaceful state of mind, it's about sleeping at night without the fear of losing what you 've got. It's being yourself and not someone else. It's about feeling loved, happy, respected, understood, cared for and appreciated.

It's all about the right person at the right time.

Should we split up?....by Marilyn Stowe.

Should we split up? By Marilyn Stowe.

I am not a therapist, but I do spend my days working with couples in conflict. I have learned that more often than not, the ultimate reason for the breakdown of a relationship is a symptom of that breakdown, rather than a cause. So an adulterous affair that brings about a divorce may not be the initial cause of that divorce: the marriage may, to all intents and purposes, have broken down beforehand.
I advocate holding a marriage together whenever possible, assuming the co-operation and willingness of both parties.
The grass elsewhere is not always as green as it may seem. A subsequent marriage is just as likely - more likely, in fact - to founder.
However a relationship can only be rescued and revived when both parties believe that it is worth fighting for. Even then, it can only be saved when both parties are committed to that fight. There is a world of difference between a genuine desire to work to save a marriage when it is the shared aim of both parties, and when it is a hope and a prayer existing in one mind only. If only one of you wants to save the relationship, it isn't going to happen.
At some stage, you and your partner must have been happy together. You must have been in love and you must have been sexually attracted to each other. Perhaps you enjoyed your relationship sufficiently to have children together. Can those feelings be recaptured?
Don't expect miracles, but don't let anger take over. Don't lay blame. It's a waste of time. Remember what brought you together in the first place. Look for the good in one another, rather than the bad. Can you still laugh together? Have you really reached the end of the road? Or has the road turned a sharp corner? Don't look back. Look forward
Often, the biggest challenge is not recognising problems within a relationship, but knowing what to do about them. Often it is too trite simply to say 'try harder' or 'keep your sense of humour' or 'respect one another'. Whenever appropriate I recommend counselling services, which can equip you with all you need to give your relationship another go. If you try your best but are unable to make your marriage work by yourselves, what do you have to lose if you ask for extra help with your efforts?
And don't forget: divorce is tough. Even the most amicable divorce is still an emotional roller coaster.
Over the years I have developed a reputation for being frank with my clients, when they come to see me for the first time, about what divorce involves: the time, the cost and the toll on one's emotions. I tell them that a divorce is like having an operation on top of the Big Dipper, without an anaesthetic.
What is more, the grass is not always greener on the other side. All my years of working in divorce suggest that within a few years the same patterns repeat themselves.
I am married myself and like most of us, I am a romantic at heart. I think the best relationships, the ones that last for life, are created when both partners want and do more for one another than they want and do for themselves, A shared sense of humour also plays an important role. Even when I am in the crossest of moods, my husband can always make me laugh. If you still have that spark, you can make it.
This doesn't mean that your relationship will be perfect. But continuing to give and to put one another first will help to keep your relationship in good health. It isn't always easy. Most of us are quite selfish but, if we consciously force ourselves to put the other person first, there is a really good chance of success. If a couple stops doing these things for one another - or even if just one of them stops - the relationship will falter and grind to a halt.
When I apply this test to people I know, some of them married for many years and others who are clients, either getting divorced or thinking about it, it rings true every time.
And if it is just too late for this, and you know or feel that your relationship cannot, should not or will not go on? In my book Divorce & Splitting Up: Advice From a Top Divorce Lawyer, I have a checklist for readers called 'You know you're done when…', which draws upon the experiences of the 10,000 clients I have seen over more than 30 years as a practising family lawyer.

IS HE A CHEATER? Signs that he is cheating on you.

IS HE
A CHEATER?

Studies reveal that 50 to 60 percent of married men engage in extramarital sex at one time or another during their marriage. Often the women in their lives have no clue what they did. You need to have some basic knowledge to protect yourself. So how does one spot a cheater? Here are 10 warning signs that your man may stray... or that he is already cheating on you.

HE HAS CHEATED BEFORE

Undoubtedly, past cheating behavior is the most reliable predictor for future cheating behavior.

HE IS A NARCISSIST

People with narcissistic personality traits feel that they're entitled to more things than other people. They're more likely to cheat because they feel they don't have to play by the rules.

HE HAS NO SENSE OF GUILT

Men who don't feel remorse or guilt when they do something wrong are prime candidates for cheating. They won't have those emotions holding them back.

HE'S AN EXCELLENT LIAR

If he is good at lying about other things in his life, then he is likely good at lying to you about cheating.

HE LEARNED IT AT HOME

If one or both of his parents were routinely unfaithful, then he is more likely to be inclined to cheat.

 HE RECENTLY LOST HIS JOB

Unemployment puts strain on a marriage and can make a man feel vulnerable, especially if the job was important to him and defined his identity. When a man doesn't feel so good about himself, he may boost his self-esteem through an affair.

HE IS SPENDING LESS TIME WITH YOU

You're watching TV; he's on the computer. You go to bed; he stays up late. You're in the same house but not really together. If a man is organizing his life to spend less time with you, it doesn't really matter whether he has met someone. Behavior like this signals a distance that becomes a breeding ground for infidelity.

HE IS BEING LESS AFFECTIONATE

Perhaps he doesn't cuddle with you in bed anymore. Or he comes to bed fully dressed when he once slept nude. These are all ways of disconnecting and may indicate he is getting his intimacy somewhere else.

HIS COMPUTER HABITS HAVE CHANGED

Check his computer's browser history once in a while to see where he's been. A new and secretive email account would be a red flag. A new email account doesn't necessarily mean your significant other is having an affair; but it becomes more likely if he is not willing to share the content of the account with you.

HIS CELL PHONE HABITS HAVE CHANGED

Lastly, beware of new cell phone habits. For example, he suddenly gets a new phone with a password lock. Or perhaps now he keeps his cell phone in his pocket when in the past he would leave it on the counter. Or maybe he used to make calls and send texts while you were around, but now excuses himself each time the phone rings.

Husband: It is not Enyimba. It is Man U vs Chelsea.

Husband: He is called a centre referee and he is not calling for a firing Squad. It's a free Kick.

Wife: Did the spectators not pay for the tickets? Why is it a Free Kick?

Husband (Mute, not uttering a word)

Wife: Now is the centre umpire talking to his wife on the phone?

Husband: No, he is communicating with his linesman.

Wife: Why is he showing only red and yellow cards? Is there not any Blue card or something?

Husband: Who is this Mercy Johnson?

Wife: Listen to what they are saying and Don't disturb.

Why Nigeria Was Excluded From 2015 DV Lottery – U.S Envoy.

The United States Consul-General, Mr. Jeffery Hawkins, on Thursday, gave reasons why Nigeria was excluded from the 2015 Diversity-Visa-Programme registration.
Hawkins told journalists at the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos, that Nigeria was among other countries that had in the last five years, sent more than 50,000 immigrants to the country through the programme.
“As at today, Nigerians have graduated from being under-represented to being a fully well represented group in the U.S.
“There is therefore no longer any need to encourage Nigerians to apply to travel to the U.S. through the Diversity-Visa-Programme. “Already there are too many Nigerians in the U.S. that have benefited from this programme,’’ he said.
The envoy explained that the diversity visa was created to promote countries with low rates of immigration to the U.S. Hawkins said that Nigeria and other affected countries had already exceeded their quota in the last five years.
He, however, stressed that the U.S. authorities would continue to give preference to Nigerians travelling to U.S for visits, business transactions, studies and professional engagements. “All other types of immigration from Nigeria to the U.S, apart from the diversity visa, would continue unabated.
“Also, let me say that the ban has nothing to do with our relations with Nigeria now, and in the years ahead,’’ the News Agency of Nigeria quoted the envoy as saying to journalists. He also dismissed insinuations making the rounds that the move was to reduce the number of Nigerians travelling to the U.S.
The U.S official also said that the development had “nothing to do with insecurity, activities of Boko Haram and other forms of upheaval in Nigeria.” It would be recalled that the U.S. Department of State, banned Nigeria, Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador and Haiti from participating in the 2015 Diversity-Visa-Programme.
Other affected countries are: India, Jamaica, Mexico, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, South Korea, United Kingdom and Vietnam.

‘It’s high time we cleaned up the airwaves’- Charles Novia backs NBC’s ban on Wizkid and Phyno.

‘It’s high time we cleaned up the airwaves’- Charles Novia backs NBC’s ban on Wizkid and Phyno.

On social media, a predictable furore has been generated by the NBC’s action. Fans and friends of the concerned artists have been expressing their angst over the ban with some asking what yardstick was used in placing such a ban. As amusing and sometimes annoying one finds some of those comments, which I think stem from an emotive viewpoint rather than logical, I have to pity such commentators because I believe they actually are the ones the songs have corrupted in the first place.
In Today’s entertainment sector, sex is king. The more sex the music videos suggest, the better for the artistes, music video directors and even the stations. I have repeatedly screamed at various interactive music fora that these days, when watching the Nigerian television channels either on terrestrial or satellite bouquets, one cannot differentiate between the lewd music videos and soft porn!
It is also alarming and befuddling that many of the musical acts getting brand endorsements here and there are nothing to write home about when it comes to the lyrical content of their songs or the moral appropraiteness of their music videos! These young turks sing blatantly about sex without giving a hoot about the most important audience of all; the children.
If they don’t know it, they should be told that children are quite impressionable and what goes into a child’s mind visually can either distort that child’s moral progression or improve on the child’s human development as time goes on. But do SOME of these repressed reprobates in the music sector care? Not in the least!
The more raunchy the music videos are, the better for the rascals. Just to buttress my point, have you guys seen the way most Nigerian kids dance to some of these songs at children’s parties? It’s all about winding their waist and even twerking much to either the amusement or amazement of their parents. Yes, thanks to these accursed music videos, we are breeding a new generation of morally bankrupt youths who just need a little prod in their subconscious minds to become the future terrors of the New Republic of Sexual Nigeria! Mark my words.
And I won’t lay the blame on the artistes alone. The radio and television stations which fight over themselves to broadcast those songs and videos are as guilty in this regard. Perhaps too, the music video directors who come up with such concepts.
The NBC too is as hypocritical with these bans as it is sometimes inept. I would suggest a total overhaul of their monitoring unit, if my opinion is asked. I mean, why would they wait for months after such songs must have gained heavy rotation on radio and television before they use their hammer? What kind of crass dereliction of duty is that?
The relatively new Director-General of the NBC, Mr Emeka Mba, is well known to me. He just assumed duty a few weeks ago and I believe he should make it his duty to clean up the airwaves. And please, no double standards! There are worse American and even African music videos and audio tracks ravaging our airwaves which the NBC don’t know jack about! Some radio On Air Personalities take delight in playing some lewd songs with the ‘F’ word unbleeped at times. A few months back, I was driving in the same car with a Reverend Gentleman and we had one of those FM stations on the car radio that afternoon. Akon’s song with the chorus ‘ I wanna f**k you…f**k you out on the floor…’assaulted our ears. On radio? I had to join the shocked Reverend Father in making the sign of the cross even though I had switched to Pentecostalism years ago! Such was the shock.
We all have witnessed how Wizkid slyly came into the scene a few years ago. I use the word ‘slyly’ because his first single ‘Holla at your boy’ was a neat teen-pop track which was family friendly and won him a huge fan base across continents. Having achieved his aim, his next couple of singles introduced the lyrical direction of his debut album. ‘Tease me’ was a daring post-pubescent song which extolled his plea for sexual freedom and also a blatant praise of his mojo. ‘Na me be the bad guys’ he crows. The accompanying video to that track was as suggestively lewd with pole-dancing girls doing some randy stuff. The clean boy image of Wizkid took a back seat and thereon his handlers and producers tried to sell him as a post-teen sex symbol.
So, it was no surprise to the discerning ones amongst us when his new singles were laced with overtly raunchy suggestivism. Let us examine the lyrics of the banned single in question; ‘Back to the matter, open and close, touch your toes, oya baby..,’. Chai! May your children grow up in the ways of the Lord.
I have nothing against the hard working Wizkid, in case some puerile minds begin to think in their usual template that ‘what’s Novia’s own?’ Or ‘He’s just jealous of Wizkid’s success’ which is a usual conclusion when critiques like these meant to correct an anomaly raise some dust.
I actually enjoy most of the young man’s clean songs as much as I abhor his lewd ones. This is basically a call to him and others of his ilk to go inwards and re-engineer their lyrics. Better still as Gbemi Olateru Olagbegi of Beat FM tweeted, they should go the extra mile in producing clean radio edit versions of some of their songs.
Phyno is one interesting rap artiste I have been studying. He joins the league of rappers who rap in native lingo, following the footsteps of his artistic heralders, 2Shotz and Dat NIGGA Raw. Phyno understands the essence of showmanship and personal branding, what with his unique Mohawk hairstyle and his style of dressing. I don’t understand Igbo very well but I have listened to the banned song ‘Man of the Year’ for controversial or lewd lyrics as well as his other songs. Here are some words I found; ‘Okereke okereke.. My guys no abaleke… N’ekperem ekpere Sika m fepu ka chekeleke Si mu kuwa k’elekera Na ezem k’ekelebe Ebughim otu mana m ga n’egbu ha ebelebe …)Something wey don enter don enter but if e nor gree enter, make you rub vaseline’)
Please someone explain a bit to me about the meaning of some of his suggestivism in those words? I think that is why the NBC banned the song.
In any case, Phyno is one act to watch. I don’t really rate him as a fantastic emcee but he’s commercial and would go far…somehow.
There are some Nigeria music videos which I would personally recommend for non-broadcast and I hope the NBC takes note somehow. This recommendation is without fear or favour and I must state too that it does not in anyway detract from the amazing talents of the artistes who I give props to for raising the bar in their chosen field. However, while they are raising the bar, I and millions of concerned parents are raising our kids so please ‘make una nor spoil my blues with una razz ragga’. Shikena.
Wande Coal’s ‘KICK’ video should be banned off the national television space. Seriously, have you seen the ladies shaking their bums in that video? For the pious and piety men reading this, I would advise you not to bother checking it out. Especially if you just came out of a spititual fasting regimen like I had just done when I saw the video. Needless to say I resumed my fasting with more vigour after that. If Timaya’s ‘shake your bum bum’ video was sexually provocative, Coal’s ‘Kick’ video gave a double provocation with two bum-shakers.
Olamide is a great musical act who is making waves at present. We all have watched his gradual ascent for the past couple of years and he has succeeded in filling a void left open by the late Dagrin. I have my reservations about his latest video ‘Durosoke’ but that is not the video I’m recommending for non-broadcast. There’s one he calls ‘Stupid love’ which I believe promotes alcoholic inebriation; which I presume to be against the broadcasting rules.
In the video, Olamide in almost every cut is seen clutching a green bottle suggestively filled with either rum or brandy or some strong coloured spirits. He takes deliberate swigs from the bottle and even chants at a point in the song about feeling ‘high’. This video gets massive airplay on national stations. I think it should be yanked off. Oh yes, some may argue that there’s no proof that the contents in that bottle is alcohol. Balderdash! Why don’t such people argue that the ‘yanshes’ they see in some of the music videos I mentioned above are harmless to the psyche of the children? And not only children too, come to think of it!
There are quite a few more I could recommend but why would I do the NBC’s job for them? Isn’t that one of their functions as a Commission?
It is high time we cleaned up the airwaves. Let those who wish to listen to lewd songs or watch raunchy music videos do so on other media. It is a sin the way we corrupt the minds of our children in the name of artistic licence.

Where do you keep Unresolved CONFLICTS??

Many people think it is the "big" things in a relationship that cause divorce like infidelity and violence. However, many marriages end in divorce (or protracted frustration) because of unCOMMUNICATED differences and UNRESOLVED conflicts about everyday things.
Don't let time slip by without TALKING to one another about your FEELINGS and THOUGHTS. Don't keep your HURTS to yourself.
